AVC Application

Thank you for your interest in volunteering in Armenia and for choosing to apply to AVC!

AVC accepts applications on a rolling basis throughout the year. Your complete application should be submitted at least two months prior to your intended arrival, allotting enough time for the AVC application committee to process and review your application and, if you are accepted, the AVC staff to make appropriate arrangements for your service in Armenia.

Once we have received all of your application materials, including your references, you will receive an e-mail confirming that your application is complete and scheduling a telephone interview. An in-person interview may also be scheduled. Your application will then be forwarded to our application review committee. You will receive an e-mail notifying you whether you have been accepted into the program. Finally, if you are approved, you will receive another e-mail with detailed information about your trip to Armenia and later an email with information about your volunteer placement.

All accepted applicants are required to submit a 58,000 AMD (approximately 150 USD) donation payable upon arrival in Armenia before volunteer service commences.

If you are interested in the Birthright Armenia program, you should apply directly to Birthright Armenia upon your acceptance into AVC.

Please note that completing this application will require time. It is recommended that you review the entire application and required documents BEFORE you begin the process of filling out the form.

Note - Filling out the following Cross Cultural Experience statement is only necessary if you intend to serve in Armenia for more than 4 months.

Although diasporan and homeland Armenians share the same ethnicity, their ideas, values and cultures may differ from one another. Non-Armenian volunteers will also encounter these differences. Volunteers, therefore, must work hard to understand this new culture, and be able to cope with being misunderstood, disappointed, and unable to communicate effectively in the beginning. Living in Armenia is also difficult due to the overwhelming needs of the country and the lack of comforts we take for granted. Please write a short statement (300-750 words) about a significant experience - drawing from school, work, home or abroad - that illustrates your ability to adapt cross-culturally and to persevere in the face of such adversity. Write this in a separate document and then copy and paste it into this box.
