Volunteer –
a person who turns good intentions into meaningful action; service that transforms the world.
The uniqueness of AVC lies in the fact that there is no restriction on the duration of your volunteer service, or your starting date. AVC accepts applications on a rolling basis throughout the whole year, making the program more accessible to everyone. We aim to provide flexibility, allowing you to decide your desired service dates.
Short term placements typically range anywhere from 1 – 2 month terms, and allow just enough time for volunteers to connect to and gain a better understanding of Armenia while lending their skills and time to a constructive purpose. Volunteers may work at more than one placement, as well as engaging in various community service projects.
Long term placements which range from 2 months to 1 year, provide a greater opportunity to build relationships and find ways to match one's particular expertise to the needs of an organization or group in Armenia. Long-term volunteers, often handle multiple assignments in order to gain exposure to different sectors of the Armenian economy or different aspects of life. One should keep in mind the longer the service term, the greater the effects and benefits of ones service.
The AVC first learns of potential volunteer qualifications through the comprehensive volunteer application process and then suggests appropriate volunteer job placements to successful applicants. AVC will then find suitable placements, based on the skills, experiences and interests of our volunteers as well as to the needs of the country during that time.
Both in and outside of Yerevan, AVC has relationships with various organizations and businesses; therefore the diversity of opportunity is endless. It is strongly encouraged for volunteers to explore the opportunities of volunteering and living outside of Yerevan, seeing how the development of the country is less great in rural areas, however the impact of ones work, is much more effective and visible. The majority of volunteer placements, can be found in the following areas:
